Ione welcomes new face to city council; Lexington welcomes back incumbent

IONE — Jim Eynetich will be the new council member helping lead Ione starting in January 2025.

Eynetich led Jesse Shoemake 57.14% to 42.86% in Ione’s City Council Position 3 race according to unofficial results from the Oregon Secretary of State Tuesday night, Nov. 5. Neither is serving on the council, according to the city’s website.

Of four races for city leadership in Ione, Position 3 was the only contested one. In the race, 150 people cast their votes, 80 for Eynetich and 60 for Shoemake.

In the town of Lexington, incumbent Bill Beard led challenger Ryan Olds with 54.20% of the vote compared to Olds’s 45.04%, according to the state’s unofficial results.

This race received the largest number of votes overall — 131 — of the town’s four open seats. It was the only contested race.
