- Wolves were responsible for several attacks on livestock in Wallowa County during January 2025, according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
WALLOWA COUNTY — One probable and two confirmed wolf depredations on livestock occurred in January in Wallowa County, according to information from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
A likely wolf attack that killed an adult mule was reported Jan. 28 on a 770-acre private pasture near Whiskey Creek in Wallowa County.
ODFW investigators deemed it probable that one or more wolves were responsible for the injuries, the agency said in a report Feb. 3. ODFW said the mule had been dead for three to four days at the time of the initial report, and it was unknown which wolf pack was responsible.
Another wolf attack was confirmed in the Flora area on a 160-acre private pasture that left a 3-month-old calf injured Jan. 18. The attack, which had happened four to seven days prior to the report, also was committed by an unknown pack, ODFW said.
The Middle Fork Pack was confirmed as responsible for injuries to one adult cow and one calf 10-15 days prior to the Jan. 9 reporting date of an attack on a 30-acre pasture along the Upper Imnaha River in southeast Wallowa County.
