STANFIELD — Aleta and Bruce Lemmon, of Stanfield, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 4. The couple were married on Jan. 4, 1974, in Salt Lake City. They met in Chester, England, where Aleta lived while Bruce was serving a mission with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bruce is a retired maintenance specialist, who worked for the LDS church and was self-employed. And Aleta is a retired Stanfield Secondary School secretary.

The couple has eight children, Rebecca Lemmon (Hermiston), Gene Lemmon (Pasco), Ernie Lemmon (Idaho), Claire Lemmon (Hermiston), Melissa Garrett (Hermiston), Naomie Valdez (Walla Walla), Rachel Corson (Portland) and Stephen Lemmon (Lebanon). They also have 24 grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
