La Grande church accepts Christmas gift donations for children

LA GRANDE — Calvary Chapel of La Grande, 1433 Jefferson Ave., is among the national drop-off locations for participants in Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, a national nondenominational evangelical Christian organization.

Individuals, families and groups can pack a shoebox filled with gifts — fun toys, school supplies, and personal care items, for example — and drop them off during National Collection Week, Nov. 18–25. Calvary Chapel is among more than 4,700 drop-off locations open around the country.

Operation Christmas Child has been collecting and delivering shoebox gifts to children worldwide for more than three decades. In 2024, Operation Christmas Child hopes to collect enough shoeboxes to reach 12 million children.
