11th annual Taste of Nordic is Sunday, March 23
ANTHONY LAKES — The tastiest day is coming to Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort, and you don’t have to be a skier to enjoy Taste of Nordic.
You can snowshoe or just pull on some boots and walk the trails to tour the vendors set up for the 11th annual event.
“The cool thing is you don’t have to be a skier — it’s a really great way to get outside and eat food,” said Chelsea Judy, marketing director.
Taste of Nordic is Sunday, March 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
So far, 13 vendors are registered to set up along the cross-country trails. Here’s a look at the offerings:
- From Baker City: Barley Brown’s Brewpub, The Cabyn, Campbell’s Catering and Sweets, North 7 Brewing and The Rustic Nail
- From La Grande: The Laurel Cocktail and Board Bar, The Liberty Theater Cafe, Side A Brewing and Ten Depot Street
- From Pendleton: The Prodigal Son Brewery & Pub
- From John Day: 1188 Brewing
- From Mitchell: Tiger Town Brewing
- From Enterprise: Terminal Gravity Brewing
“We have new food vendors, which is really exciting,” Judy said.
The vendors will be set up in three zones along the trail, with each zone featuring four or five businesses.
“It’s really, really fun and so unique to be in that scenic environment and taste local food and beverages,” Judy said. “There’s a little something for everyone.”
The event happens despite the weather, which could be clear and sunny, or snowing.
Tokens
Food and beverages will be priced by tokens, which can be purchased starting Thursday, March 13, at the Anthony Lakes lodge. Judy encourages people to buy tokens in advance to avoid the long line on the day of the event.
Those age 21 and older must have a wristband — IDs will be checked when tokens are purchased.
If you need more tokens as you taste and sip along the trail, a token table will be set up in zone two along the trail.
Tokens are $4 each, and event cups are $15. Or choose one of these packages:
- Hot Lap: Cup plus five tokens, $30
- The Mingler: Cup plus 15 tokens, $70
- The Mingling Duo: Two cups plus 30 tokens, $140
Passes, rentals
All participants must have a valid trail pass, either single day or season. A nordic trail pass is $20, or $10 for ages 7-11.
Rentals for cross-country skis or snowshoes are $25. These can be rented either the day before, March 22, or on the day of the event.
