The Echo CougarsĀ were blown out by the Weston-McEwen TigerScots on Tuesday, 78-44, at the Desales Holiday Tournament at Whitman College.
Esau Ibarra, who had been previously lighting teams up for 20 points every night it seemed, was held to 11 points. Bryan Ibarra finished with eight and Ethan Marcum had five with five boards.
PR 57, Riverside 51
In Pilot Rock, the Riverside Pirates tried to go without top player Marco Carranza, but couldnt make it work Tuesday, losing to Pilot Rock.
The Rockets hit eight free throws down the stretch to protect their lead, and were led by DMarcus Bowies 14 points.
For the Pirates, guard Erik Ruiz cashed in 17 points and Noel Villegas chipped in 12.
Girls basketball
Echo 40, W-M 31
Echo kicked off the DeSales Holiday Tournament with a 40-31 win over the Class 2A Weston-McEwen TigerScots on Tuesday at Whitman College.
Point guard Taylor Tarvin continues to play very well for the Cougs, scoring a game-high 15 points. Kirsten McCallum chipped in 10 and Lauren Elligsen had none.
The Cougs had to withstand a TigerScot rally in the fourth, as they pulled with a bucket, but the Cougs were able to fend them off and earn the win, running their record to 8-1.
